How to use Community Engagement AI

Community Engagement AI includes five tools that help you generate and manage content across channels and feeds.

Suggested Channel Replies

This tool helps you respond to member questions in monitored channels with AI-suggested answers. To use it:

  1. Review suggested answers provided by Disco AI
  2. Edit the draft as needed
  3. Approve and post the response in the channel

Suggested Messages

Suggested Messages appear as a banner inside a channel when there’s an opportunity to engage. To use it:

  1. Click Create Message with AI
  2. Review the draft message
  3. Edit if needed, then click Send

This keeps conversations flowing with minimal effort.

Message Generator

Use this to create custom channel messages based on your prompt.

To generate a message:

  1. Click the AI icon in the channel chat toolbar
  2. Enter your prompt (e.g., "Start a conversation about onboarding experiences")
  3. (Optional) Attach links, videos, or documents using the “+” icon
  4. (Optional) Enable web search to pull from online sources
  5. (Optional) Enable community context to pull from content from community
  6. Click Generate and wait for the draft
  7. Edit and click Send when ready

This gives you full control over the message while saving time.

 

Suggested Posts

Suggested Posts appear as a banner at the top of your community feed when there’s an opportunity to post.

To use it:

  1. Click Create Post with AI
  2. Review and edit the draft
  3. Click Post or schedule it to publish later

This helps you share content that’s timely and relevant.

Post Generator

This tool creates feed posts based on your input.

To use it:

  1. Open a Feed app and click the AI icon in the post editor
  2. Enter a prompt like "Welcome new members to the community"
  3. (Optional) Attach supporting content using the “+” button
  4. (Optional) Enable web search
  5. (Optional) Enable community context
  6. Click Generate and wait for the draft
  7. Edit and click Post or schedule as needed

This gives you rich, contextual posts in seconds.

How to configure default source preferences

You can set default content sources for Community Engagement AI tools. To update sources:

  1. Go to Disco AI in the admin panel
  2. Click Edit in the Community Engagement card
  3. Open the Sources tab
  4. Toggle internal or external sources on or off:— Internal: Content, Documents, Videos, Member Profiles, Disco Channel Messages, Slack Channel Messages— External: Links, Knowledge Bases
  5. Click Update to save

Note: Feed posts are always enabled. At least one channel source must be enabled.

Common Questions

Who can see AI-generated suggestions?
Only admins or users with content creation permissions.

How long does generation take?
It takes a few seconds to a few minutes, depending on complexity.

Will learners see that content was created by AI?
No. Only admins and editors see generation details.
