How to use Learning Design AI

Learning Design AI includes three tools that help you create structured educational content based on your selected sources.

Curriculum Generator

This tool outlines a complete curriculum including modules and learning objectives. To generate a curriculum:

  1. Create a new product
  2. Go to the Curriculum app
  3. Click Generate Curriculum with AI
  4. Provide detailed instructions that include information such as the course title, topics, and structure
    • Example: Generate a curriculum for an intermediate-level ‘Business Communication’ course focused on email writing, presentations, and interpersonal skills. Target early-career professionals with practical exercises and case studies.
  5. Optionally, choose sources
  6. Click Generate
  7. Preview the Curriculum outline
  8. Edit outline through additional prompting on the canvas or via chat interface
  9. Click Generate Curriculum

Content Generator

Use this to write detailed lesson content from a specific topic. To generate lesson content:

  1. Go to the Content Area from a Collection App, Curriculum App or from the Global Add
  2. Select the AI option or navigate to the Generate tab
  3. Enter detailed instructions of the lesson topic or goal
  4. Review or change source selections if needed
  5. Click Generate

How to configure default source preferences

You can set default sources for Curriculum and Content Generators to streamline future generations. To update default sources:

  1. Go to Disco AI in the admin panel
  2. Click Edit in the Learning Design card
  3. In the settings drawer, select the Sources tab
  4. Toggle sources on or off:— Internal: Content, Documents, Videos, Disco Channel Messages, Slack Channel Messages, Feed Posts, Member Profiles— External: Links, Knowledge Bases
  5. Click Update to save changes

You can still adjust sources manually each time you generate content.

Common Questions

Can I edit the content after it’s generated?
Yes. You can revise, expand, or restructure any AI-generated output in your module or quiz editor.

How long does generation take?
It usually takes a few seconds to a few minutes, depending on complexity.

Can learners tell if content was AI-generated?
No. Only admins and editors can see generation details. Learners see the finalized content.
