AI Audio Narration (BETA)

What This Does

Learners now have the option to listen to content instead of reading it. AI Audio narration creates natural-sounding narration for all published text lessons, supporting flexible and accessible learning.

What To Know First

  • Currently available in Disco Labs.
  • AI Audio narration works on both mobile and desktop.
  • AI Audio narration generates only after content is connected to a published product or an active collection.
  • AI Audio narration is a global feature and can’t be configured by role or by lesson. Once it’s on, it applies to all published text content for everyone.
  • AI Audio re-generates when content is edited. Regeneration may take up to one hour to complete.
  • Learners must still click Complete & Continue to mark a lesson complete and move on.
  • AI Audio is generated in the language of the content.

How Audio Narration Works

AI Audio narration appears as an on-demand player inside each lesson. Learners select “Listen to Audio” at the bottom left of content to start listening.

AI Audio narration begins generating when content becomes part of an active learning experience. This can happen in a few ways:

  • Publishing a product: When you publish a product, Disco will start generating audio narration for any text-based content used in that product’s curriculum or collections.
  • Adding content to a published product: If content is added to a curriculum or collection that belongs to a published product, audio narration starts generating for that content.
  • Using content in an organization-level collection: If content is added to a collection at the organization level, audio narration will also be generated, even if the content did not have audio before.
  • You might see a short delay between publishing and audio availability.
  • When you edit published content, Disco re-generates the audio file.
  • Audio exists for all published content, regardless of length.
  • Content previously published and moved back to draft will still have generated audio.

Tips for best results

  • Short paragraphs and natural sentence flow with clear, well-structured text produce the best narration quality.
  • Abbreviations, special characters, and code blocks may not render as expected, so it's best to avoid these.
  • Review the generated audio after publishing to confirm it reads your content accurately.
