About This Feature

The Group Directory App makes it easier for members to find and connect with relevant groups in your community. Admins can use it to highlight key groups—like cohorts, mentors, or interest-based teams—so members can discover where they belong and engage with others who share similar goals.

It’s a simple way to strengthen community connections and make group discovery more intuitive.

 

How It Works

The Group Directory App can be placed at the community or product level. Admins can choose to display system groups, custom groups, or both. Each group will appear in a list, and members can select a group to view more details. The detailed group view includes:

  • Group name: Displayed with a color-coded tag
  • Description: Overview of the group’s purpose or focus
  • Group avatar (optional)
  • Member list
  • Subgroups (optional; visible only to admins)

When viewing a Group Directory, members can filter or sort by group type or search for specific groups.

 

How To Create a Group Directory App

In the community:

  1. Select the “+” icon in the top right of the left navigation.
  2. Select “Add App”.
  3. Choose the “Group Directory” app.
  4. Customize the name, icon and adjust the access settings.
  5. Select groups or sub-groups to feature in the directory.
  6. Click “Complete Setup”.

In a Product:

  1. Hover over the product where you want the app set up, select the “+” icon.
  2. Select “Add App”.
  3. Choose the “Group Directory” app.
  4. Customize the name, icon and adjust the access settings.
  5. Select groups or sub-groups to feature in the directory.
  6. Click “Complete Setup”.

 

Important Considerations

  • Multiple Group Directory Apps can be created within the community or within a single product.
  • When creating a Group Directory within a product, groups outside the Product can also be featured.
  • Only groups visible to “Everyone” can be used in a Group Directory App. Groups visible to “Admins-only” cannot be used.
