About This Feature

Embeds enable you to integrate external tools and resources directly into your Disco Community, providing seamless access to external content and experiences.

How It Works

Embeds in Disco allow for the integration of various external platforms through the Embed App in Community, Products and Content. Available options include Discord, Airtable, Google Docs, Google Forms, Typeform, Whereby, Figma, Miro, Loom, YouTube, and Vimeo. These can be embedded directly into Pages, Lessons, Tasks, Assignments, or anywhere the Rich Text Editor is available.

How To Create an Embed

1. Choose Your Embed Tool: Decide which external tool or resource to embed within your Disco Community.

2. Obtain the Embed Link: For the chosen tool, follow the product-specific instructions to obtain an embeddable or shareable link. Note that for Typeform, this includes obtaining a share link that passes hidden variables like disco_user_id.

3. Embed in Disco: Embeds can be added to Disco in 3 ways:

  1. Rich Text Editor: In the area where you want to include the Embed (Lesson, Task, Assignment, etc.), use the Rich Text Editor to insert the embed link. This process may vary slightly depending on the tool but generally involves pasting the embed link into a designated embed area or using an HTML embed option if available.
  2. Content: When creating content, select the Embed tab and choose to embed an integration as content.
  3. App: Add an App in the Community or within a Product and select the Embed option.

4. Customize Visibility and Access: Ensure the embedded content is appropriately set up for the intended audience, whether it's all members, specific groups, or instructors only.

Important Considerations

FAQs

Q: How do I embed a video from YouTube or Vimeo into Disco?

A: Use the share link from YouTube or Vimeo and insert it into the Rich Text Editor or designated embed field within your Disco content area.

Q:  The embed window height seems too small for my preference. Can I increase the embed window height?

A: Yes! Resize the window height by clicking and dragging the window height.

Q: Can I track Member interactions with embedded content?

A: Direct interactions with embedded content (like form submissions or video playbacks) are tracked within the external tool. See above for how interactions and responses are tracked for Typeform embeds.

Q: What types of content can I embed in Disco at the Community and Experience level?

A:  At the Community and Experience level, the following are a subset of the options available:

  • Discord: A free voice, video, and text chat app for a community. You may already have a community here, so this will be a quick way for your members to get into Discord.
  • Airtable: An online platform for creating and sharing databases. The user interface is simple and allows you to make a database quickly. Customize your workflow and collaborate.
  • Google Docs: An online word processor that lets you create and format documents and work with others. You can embed these right into pages on Disco.
  • Google Forms: An online form software that allows you to create and analyze surveys in your mobile or web browser. You can summarize survey results at a glance with charts and graphs. Great as a task to get member sentiment part way through an experience.
  • Typeform: Similar to Google Forms but with a slightly different interface. Create anything from surveys and quizzes to apps without needing to write code. Great to set up as a task to test members' knowledge of the subject they are learning about.
  • Whereby: A video calling app similar to Zoom, Teams and Google Meet.
  • Figma: A collaborative interface design tool that helps you create websites, applications, logos, wireframing, etc. You could use it to share a design, a slideshow with your community or many other options.
  • Miro: A digital whiteboard that can be used for research, ideation, building customer journeys and user story maps, wireframing and other collaborative activities. It's great for breakout rooms and collaborating on ideas with a group.
