Apps: The building blocks of Disco Community Spaces and Learning Products
Apps are the foundation of engaging community spaces and transformative learning products in Disco. With our latest update, you now have even more control over who sees what content, at both community and experience levels!
What's New: Enhanced Visibility Control
Product-Level Visibility Settings: You can now customize who sees your apps at both the community and product levels. This powerful new feature gives you precise control over your members' journey.

Note: This visibility enhancement applies to most apps except Events, Curriculum, and Members apps.
How It Works
Apps are modular building blocks that enable you to:
- Design custom community spaces for discussions and content sharing
- Build structured learning products like courses and coaching programs
- Set targeted access permissions at both community and experience levels
- Create personalized dashboards with app-associated blocks
There are nine types of apps:
- Curriculum (Products only): Structure your learning journey
- Collection: Organize related content in one place
- Events: Schedule and manage gatherings
- Feed: Create dynamic discussion spaces
- Channel: Enable topic-focused conversations
- Content: Share articles, videos, and resources
- Link: Connect to external resources or other products
- Embed: Integrate tools like Typeform, Calendly, or Figma
- Members: Connect your community (visibility settings not applicable)
How To Steps
To add an App in the Community area
- Select the “+” icon in the top right of the left navigation
- Select “App”
- Choose an option.
- Give the space a name, icon and adjust the access.
- Click “Create”
To add an App to a Product
- Select the “+” icon in the right of your Product of the left navigation.
- Select “App”
- Choose an option.
- Give the space a name, icon and adjust the access.
- Click “Create”
Done! Now that you’ve added your App, you can drag-and-drop to organize it above or below other apps and/or between Sections in your Community area.
Important Considerations
- When adding Apps, the curriculum app is only available in Products.
- Currently, only one "Event" app exists in the Community Area. You can add one Event app per product.
- Except for Events, Curriculum, and Members apps, you can set visibility settings for most apps at the Learning Product level, just like at the community level.
- When setting visibility at the Learning Product level, you'll only be able to target members or groups of the specific Learning Product. This visibility control allows you to create more personalized learning journeys by showing specific content to selected groups within a Learning Product.
